The German international can lead the Gunners to their first trophy in eight years
Kieron Gibbs believes new team-mate Mesut Ozil can take Arsenal to another level after his club record move to the Emirates Stadium.
Ozil joined the Gunners for £42.5 million from Real Madrid on transfer deadline day and is already being tipped to inspire his new club to end their eight-year quest for a trophy and turn them back into genuine challengers for the Premier League title.
It’s certainly a marker of the 24-year-olds talent when many of his former Madrid colleagues expressed their anger at his departure and Gibbs admits he can’t wait to work alongside him – feeling the German international will spur the squad to reach new heights.
“It is a statement to what the club want to do and what the club want to achieve,” The England defender said on Arsenal Player.
“It is something that everyone has been waiting for so now we have a big signing to help push us to the next level.
“He has got a clinical side to him and technically he is world-class.
“He is going to create a lot of problems for opposition we come up against and hopefully he can continue the form that he had with Real Madrid.”
