Kings XI will be looking to get back to winning ways against KKR after successive defeats.
It’s a big game in the 2013 IPL today as Kings XI Punjab want to avoid three defeats in a row against Kolkata Knight Riders; after losing to Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings in their previous two matches.
The Knight Riders meanwhile won’t want to let league leaders Mumbai Indians get out of their sites as Gautam Gambhir’s side look to defend their IPL title.
Kings XI coach Darren Lehmann thinks his side have been let down by their batting in the tournament so far, with the franchise only just scraping into the top 20 batsmen of the year – David Hussey is No.20 on the list with 90 runs.
After Pune Warriors comprehensively beat the Super Kings on Monday, captain Adam Gilchrist and his side have dropped into the bottom two of the 2013 table.
KKR have been in slightly better form, winning half of their four matches and seeing all-rounder Sunil Narine coming into fine form with the ball, topping the bowling figures.
Gambhir was awarded Man of the Match in their last victory over SunRisers Hyderabad but the skipper said it was England batsman Eoin Morgan who was star of the show.
As well as Morgan and the captain, Kolkata also boast New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum and South African Jacques Kallis in their batting line-up and are perhaps more imposing than their current league position of fifth suggests.
