Having recovered from shoulder surgery earlier this year, Bryant is entering his 20th, and possibly last, season in the NBA and is building his fitness.
However, he showed that he is improving his execution on both ends of the court as he put up 21 points in 19 minutes of action in the win at the Staples Center on Sunday.
Lakers point guard D’Angelo Russell, the second overall pick in the Draft, had 11 assists and five points in 18 minutes off the bench, while Roy Hibbert added 16 rebounds.
It is unclear what to expect from the Lakers at this stage, as they still lack the pieces to suggest that they can compete for the playoffs.
Nevertheless, if Bryant can find his rhythm and what they have put together over the summer can gel well, then they will be hopeful of at least pushing for one of the final few spots for the post-season.
