Inter Milan starlet Mateo Kovacic has denied he is on his way to Anfield despite reports suggesting the Reds had agreed a fee with the Serie A giants over the transfer of the Croatian.

Kovacic has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, and reports on Sunday suggested the 21-year-old was set to link up with countrymen Dejan Lovren at Anfield.
However, the former Dinamo Zagreb prodigy denied he was on his way to the Merseyside club, pointing to the fact that he had just recently signed a new deal to remain at the San Siro.
“For now I’m still happy in Italy, but we’ll see about the future,” he told Tuttosport (via Daily Star).
“Now I’m thinking about my holidays. I only know that I’m due back at Appiano Gentile on July 5.
“That’s why I haven’t heard anyone from the club yet.
“There’s no need for us to talk, I recently renewed my contract.
“I’m not expecting any further notifications, but of course you never know with the transfer market.”
Though Kovacic has denied that any agreement has been reached, his comments certainly leave the door open for any move over the summer transfer period.
The Croatian is considered to be one of Europe’s hottest young talents and would fit seamlessly into Brendan Rodgers’ possession-based system.
