The 21-year-old Croatia international is one of the Serie A’s brightest talents and can play a variety of roles across the midfield, making him an attractive proposition for Reds boss Brendan Rodgers.
Kovacic is equally adept playing as a deep-lying midfielder as he is in an advanced role and still has the potential to become one of Europe’s most technically gifted players.
According to The Mirror, Liverpool have made an approach towards the £15m-rated star but he reportedly also has interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal.
Kovacic has scored five goals in the Serie A this season but has played mostly as a holding midfielder for Roberto Mancini’s side.
His passing accuracy of 87% will be something that would have stood out to Rodgers, who would see the former Dinamo Zagreb man as a valuable addition to his possession-based style of football.
