The defender put forward an apology and admitted poor judgement.
Tottenham defender Kyle Walker has avoided an FA disciplinary charge after he was pictured inhaling nitrous oxide from a balloon.
Walker, currently on international duty with England, had his face splashed across the front pages of Sunday’s newspapers after the images, taken earlier this summer, of him taking the ‘legal high’ came to light.
However, the 23-year-old will not face punishment the FA for his consumption of the substance which, while not outlawed, can have dangerous side effects as pointed out by medical professionals.
“Kyle Walker has expressed his regret for an error of judgement when inhaling nitrous oxide earlier this year,” said an FA statement reported in the Telegraph. “Kyle has accepted this mistake. He will not face any action under the England player code of conduct.”
The incident triggered a remorseful Walker to post a series of apologetic tweets, admitting that he was a victim of “poor judgement”.
Apologies for not commenting sooner on a story about me today. I’ve been training and am focussed on Tuesday’s game for England

Now I know the health risks, it was poor judgement on my part.

I won’t be doing this again and hope that no one else is influenced into putting their health at risk by my actions.
