Iconic owner who oversaw ten of the Lakers NBA championships has lost his battle with cancer. As reported by Mike Bresnahan of the LA Times, LA Lakers owner Jerry Buss has passed away.
This comes just three days after he was admitted to hospital after a cancer scare, which turned out to be more serious than the media were told.
The LA Lakers have endured a tough season so far, and this news will only add to an already tense and stressed locker room.
As the team will begin to search for a new owner, the players and coaches must not let this sad news affect their on-court goal of making the playoffs, and may use it as an extra source of motivation to get them through this tough stretch of the season.
It is believed that Jerry Buss’ children, Jim and Jeanie will oversee the running of the franchise until a suitable buyer takes control of the world’s most recognizable US Sports franchise.
