Sociedad’s Griezmann could become the latest Gunner.
Real Sociedad forward Antoine Griezmann could become the first of Arsenal’s summer signings by completing an £18m transfer, according to the Daily Mail.
The Frenchman has been greatly impressing in La Liga in 2013/14, scoring 16 league goals for his side as they finished seventh in the Spanish top tier.
Gunners manager Arsene Wenger openly admitted in March that the club were keeping tabs on the 23-year-old and more recently Griezmann has said he is open to moving to a bigger side.
Wenger is keen to improve his squad in the final third as after a promising start to the season the north Londoners once again finished in fourth position in the Premier League.
Whilst they ended what was approaching a nine year trophy drought by winning the FA Cup, there is growing frustration around the Emirates Stadium that the club are falling behind their league rivals.
Wenger has admitted that too much reliance was put upon striker Olivier Giroud for goals last term and therefore recruitment in attack is a priority.
Although generally operating from the left wing, Griezmann is a proven scorer and also has the capability of playing in a more central role – similar to Robin van Persie when he first arrived in north London.
