Turkish international could be set for Rome.
The agent of Galatasaray striker Burak Yilmaz has revealed that Lazio are the only club currently in the running to sign him.
The 28-year-old joined the Turkish giants last summer from Trabzonspor and became an instant hit with his goals and overall contribution.
With the arrival of the likes of Didier Drogba and Wesley Sneijder, it had been suggested that he would have a tough time holding on to his place in the first-team, but those fears were allayed and it is understood that Gala have no interest in losing him.
With Miroslav Klose hinting at a possible return to the Bundesliga at the end of the season, Lazio have swiftly begun their search for a replacement if one is required, and it is believed that Yilmaz has emerged as their primary target.
However, despite speculation in the English media claiming that the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal were interested in the player, his agent has dismissed rumours of a switch to the Premier League for now.
“Lazio are the only side in the running to sign him,” representative Ali Egeseltold told Corriere dello Sport, as reported by Football Italia.
“They have made an important offer for him, but it has not been accepted for now because Galatasaray don’t want to lose him,” he added.
Reports in the Italian media have claimed that Lazio have offered around €10m for the striker, but that is €5m below the asking price put in place by the reigning Turkish champions.
With just over two weeks to go until the transfer market closes, much can change and it remains to be seen whether or not Lazio will have to compete for Yilmaz’s signature should Galatasaray be willing to listen to offers.
