Belgian keeper Thiabaut Courtois will be starting for Chelsea in goal next season, claims Duncan Castles of the Times.
The journalist writes:
Jose Mourinho wants to make Thibaut Courtois his starting goalkeeper at Chelsea next season. The decision to bring the Belgium international back from a three-year loan spell at Atletico Madrid where he helped to eliminate his parent club from the Champions League last week would effectively end Petr Cech’s decade-long run as Chelsea number one.
The 21-year-old stopper has been sublime for Atletico this term, and could finish the campaign with La Liga and Champions League winners medals as a result of his and his team’s superb form.
Cech has done well too for Chelsea, but Mourinho is apparently finding it impossible to ignore the consistent match winning performances of Courtois, and will be bringing him back to Stamford bridge as a result.
