James is a game-time decision for the clash with Chicago on Sunday.
Miami Heat star LeBron James has sustained a broken nose after being caught in the face by Serge Ibaka during the win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday night.
An X-ray on Friday revealed the extent of the damage, after the 29-year-old was forced to leave the court mid-way through the fourth quarter.
James has been listed as a game-time decision for the home game against the Bulls on Sunday, but while reports suggest that he is expecting to play, the Heat medical staff will need to wait for the swelling to go down before deciding on treatment and whether or not James will require a protective mask.
Driving to the basket, the Heat star was caught in the face by Ibaka but was able to complete the play to end the night with 33 points in the 103-81 win at the Chesapeake Energy Arena.
While no foul was called, James stayed down for several minutes after bleeding on the floor and was sent to the locker room as he didn’t return.
Miami had a night off on Friday as they completed their six-game road trip, going 5-1 with all the victories coming against teams currently in the playoff postions in the West.
They continue to put pressure on the Indiana Pacers at the top of the Eastern Conference, and have now pulled within one-and-a-half games of their rivals who have shown signs of slipping in recent weeks.
Furthermore, they will be boosted by their favourable schedule for the remainder of the regular season, as 17 of their final 29 games are at home, starting on Sunday against the Bulls.
