Three Leicester City players have apologised following allegations that they appeared in a racist sex tape during the Premier League side’s post-season trip to Thailand.
Video footage obtained by The Mirror allegedly shows youth team players Tom Hopper, Adam Smith and James Pearson – son of Leicester manager Nigel Pearson – naked in a hotel room.
One of the men in the video can be heard using a racist insult whilst watching two Thai women engaged engaging explicit sex acts in a hotel room.
Leicester, who produced a remarkable late-season turnaround to seal its Premier League status, is owned by billionaire Thai father-and-son duo Vichai and Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha.
The Foxes released a statement late on Sunday night saying that the club would conduct a formal investigation.
“Tom Hopper, James Pearson and Adam Smith would like to convey their sincere apologies for their behaviour – to the women involved in the incident, to the club and its owners, to the club’s fans and to their families,” a club statement said.
“A formal process of investigation will be undertaken with the players in conjunction with their representatives and, as such, no further comment can be made at this stage.
“Leicester City remains wholly committed to promoting equality in football and in wider society and to our players recognising their responsibilities as role models to young people.”
The three players will now return to the UK in advance of the remainder of the squad.
