Lewis Hamilton is optimistic that he will sign a new deal with Mercedes before the Malaysian Grand Prix on Sunday – and it could see him become the highest paid driver ever in British history with a £30m-per-year contract reportedly being offered.

The new contract would be one of the biggest in Formula One, with a whopping £90m three-year deal set to be signed by Hamilton.
The 30-year-old said in Kuala Lumpur that he expected the deal to be confirmed very soon: “It is going back between the lawyers so hopefully it is done before the weekend. That would be great, but if not in due time,” as quoted by the Mirror.
If the Mercedes driver signs the new contract, only Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel will be earning more, as he gets by on a stunning £35m-per-year.
