Andres Iniesta believes the two can form a formidable partnership for years to come.
Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta believes that the club’s new-signing Neymar and World Player of the Year Lionel Messi will bring the best out of one another next season.
Neymar will be presented to the media for the first time on Monday since agreeing his move to the Catalans last month and Iniesta doesn’t think there is any need to worry that a partnership between the 21-year-old and Messi will not work.
“The great players always understand each other,” he told a press conference on Monday.
“Leo will make Neymar better and Neymar will make Leo better too. It is a team game and it is the collective that makes the club win.
“Neymar will offer a lot, he has spectacular talent, much greater than the norm, he has a long way to go and he is coming to the ideal club.”
The Brazilian will only be making a quick stop in the Catalan capital, though, as after helping his country to a 2-2 draw with England on Sunday night, he will return to his homeland for a friendly against France on June 9.
Both Neymar and Iniesta will also be involved for their respective countries in the Confederations Cup later this month and Iniesta is looking forward to the tournament after missing out four years ago due to injury.
“I couldn’t play the last Confederations and it is a competition that Spain hasn’t won so we are undertaking it with a lot of excitement to do well and to be able to win it.”
