Sundramoorthy’s side must step up the tempo
Lions XII face Perak in a crucial Malaysia Cup tie at the Jalan Basar Stadium, Coach V Sundramoorthy has backed his players to continue their unbeaten run at home.
Speaking to the New Straits Times Sundramoorthy said: “We must beat Perak. I want my players to reproduce their superb unbeaten streak at home by earning three points,”
Lions are the Malaysian Super League Champions and reached the semi-finals of this competition last year, but should they lose and results in the other group game go against them, then they could find themselves looking at an early exit.
Lions, who are comprised mainly of Singapore U23 players, face the added complication of two huge tournaments looming near.
Players may wish to conserve themselves to avoid injury for both the Merkeda Tourament and the Myanmar SEA games.
Last the time the two sides met, they played out a 1-1 draw in the Malaysian Super League in June, you can watch the highlights of that game below.
