Liverpool drew 1-1 with Swiss side FC Sion in Group B of the Europa League this evening.
The hosts had a perfect start when Adam Lallana turned home Divock Origi’s cross inside five minutes, but Sion rallied and took advantage of some woeful marking to hit back in the 17th minute.

Thereafter Liverpool didn’t look like a side that wanted to win. The fans’ frustration rolled down off the terraces, as passes continued to be misplaced and chances continued to be spurned.
The closest they came to a second goal was at the end of the first half when Danny Ings saw an effort correctly ruled out for offside.
It was a woeful performance, and Rodgers looked on desolately as time ran out. When the referee blew for full-time he was greeted by loud a chorus of boos – the likes of which haven’t been heard on the Kop since the end of Roy Hodgson’s reign.
Next up for the Reds is the Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park. A repeat of tonight’s performance and Everton are guaranteed to walk away with three points.
Tonight’s result leaves Liverpool second in Group B, three points behind leaders Sion and level on two points with last week’s opponents Bordeaux.

Next up for Liverpool in the Europa League is a home tie against Russia’s Rubin Kazan, while Sion travel to Bordeaux. The French side drew 0-0 in Russia tonight in Group B’s other match.
Not one man in red excelled tonight, while many were truly awful. Therefore our player ratings might seem like they have been written by a disgruntled Craig Revel Horwood…
GK: Simon Mignolet – 6.5/10
Mignolet had shocking marking to blame for the goal, and did everything else asked of him without fuss.
CB: Kolo Toure – 6/10
Age has taken it’s toll on Toure’s speed, but his leadership and positional awareness are second to none.
CB: Emre Can – 6/10
Liverpool’s most promising midfielder, but always looks less settled with asked to play CB.
CB: Joe Gomez – 7/10
Another assured performance that belies his young age. Surely will be a centre back rather than a full back as he matures.
