The brilliant striker bags yet another brace for the Reds…
Liverpool player ratings
- 22 Mignolet – 6
The Belgian stopper’s distribution was impressive, and he wasn’t at fault for the goal, either. Mignolet’s passing from the back was especially impressive.
- 02 Johnson – 5
The England fullback gave the ball back on multiple occasions in the second half, when Cardiff actually threatened to get back into the game. He was eager to get forward whenever he could, though.
- 38 Flanagan (Kelly – 55′ ) – 7 & 5
The youngster put in another impressive performance at left-back, but his replacement Martin Kelly was far less assured. Expect Flanagan to continue at left-back for the entirety of the Christmas period.
- 37 Skrtel – 6
Skrtel barely put a foot wrong defensively all afternoon, but his distribution was poor.
- 17 Sakho – 7
The Frenchman was solid all afternoon, and was unlucky not to score a goal late in the second half. Sakho’s passing was similarly impressive, and he will likely keep Daniel Agger out of the side for the foreseeable future.
- 21 Lucas
- The Brazilian almost acted as an extra defender when Cardiff got back into the game in the second half, and made plenty of tackles and interceptions.
- 24 Allen – 7
Allen played well in the middle of the park, and ticked play over very nicely. He was happy to come deep and pick the ball up from Liverpool’s defenders, and retained possession excellently.
- 14 Henderson – 8
Henderson seems to be enjoying the extra midfield responsibility in Steven Gerrard’s absence. He ran all afternoon from box to box, but also showed his footballing ability with a succession of excellent passes.
- 31 Sterling – 8
Sterling is enjoying an extending run in the first team at the moment, and did his chances of being selected in coming weeks no harm whatsoever. He scored another goal, making it three in three, and gave the Cardiff left-back a very tricky afternoon.
- 10 Coutinho – 8
Coutinho was excellent in behind Suarez, especially in the first half. His intricate passing and quick feet was particularly impressive, and he set Suarez though on goal on multiple occasions.
- 07 Suárez – 9
Yet another brace from the ridiculous Uruguayan striker. Suarez could have easily scored a hat-trick, but bagged two to make it ten in the calendar month. On current form, the 26-year-old is probably the best player in the world.
