Liverpool’s player ratings from the 4-1 win over West Ham on Merseyside.
Simon Mignolet: 7
A fine save from Maiga’s first half header and otherwise solid.
Glen Johnson: 7
Assist for the Suarez goal and dealt well with the returning Downing.
Jon Flanagan: 6
Still looks slightly out of his depth in this Liverpool side and didn’t do enough in the final third.
Martin Srktel: 6
Solid but another stupid own goal might have cost the Reds on a different day.
Mamadou Sakho: 8
Finding his feet nicely in English football. Brought the ball out of defence well and scored the important second goal.
Joe Allen: 6
Tidy and anchored the midfield well in Lucas’ absence in the first half. Played further forward in the second half but failed to make any telling contributions.
Steven Gerrard: 6
Struggled to make an impact on the game in the first half against West Ham’s tenacious three-man central midfield and came off injured early in the second.
Jordan Henderson: 7
Another energetic display and looked a threat going forward. Wasteful in the final third again but he caused the Hammers problems.
Philipe Coutinho: 8
The best player on the park barring Suarez. Liverpool’s creative hub playing in his favoured number 10 role behind the striker.
Raheem Sterling: 7
Worked hard and looked lively but failed to make the most of a number of good positions. But the 19-year-old clearly has a huge future ahead of him and will only get better.
Luis Suarez: 8
Oddly wasteful in the final third but still scored one and forced West Ham into two own goals. Arguably the form players in world football at present, alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan.
