The two clubs are desperate to sign Sakho from PSG.
Paris Saint-Germain centre-back Mamadou Sakho is a much in demand man currently as AC Milan and Liverpool vie for the France international’s signature, reports Football Italia.
Sakho has told PSG manager Laurent Blanc that the defender wants to leave the Ligue 1 champions this summer and could depart either permanently or on a loan deal.
The Reds are desperate to recruit new defensive options due to the retirement of Jamie Carragher and the remaining doubts over the capabilities of both Sebastian Coates and Martin Skrtel.
Kolo Toure has been brought in on a free transfer from Manchester City this summer, but manager Brendan Rodgers wants further support and views the 23-year-old Sakho as the ideal signing.
The defender found himself behind Thiago Silva and Alex last term in the pecking order and since the signing of starlet Marquinhos from AS Roma, the centre-back could find playing opportunities even more limited.
Therefore Sakho has expressed the desire to leave the Frenchman’s boyhood side and depart PSG after six years in the first team.
The France international has made 197 appearances for the Parisians in all competitions since making the step up from the youth academy in 2007 and has also earned 14 caps for the national team.
Sakho hasn’t made it off the bench in either of PSG’s league matches so far this campaign and Liverpool could capitalise on this unrest.
The Merseyside club face stiff competition from Milan though, who can also offer the defender Champions League football this term.
