Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United are all thought to be keeping tabs on the England international – who is valued at around £40m – but the Toffees boss says they have no chance of signing him.
“I don’t think it is easy to get footballers like John Stones and Ross Barkley. I think as English players they are phenomenal footballers and you are going to get that,” Martinez was quoted by the Daily Star.
“As a football club we want John and Ross to keep progressing, keep developing and they know they can do that with Everton. And that’s the only thing that matters to me.
“I’m not going to just be worried about other teams’ interest because there will be interest, there’s no two ways about it. These two players are as good as it gets in terms of that age group, if not European football.
“It’s a matter of making sure they keep progressing and keep developing. If I see they keep developing with us there is no need to worry.
“We are a club which does not have to sell. We have gone past that period and the football club is in a fantastic moment financially. Everything will be football decisions.
“As a football club, we don’t need to sell and that makes every decision a football one for the good of the club. So I’m very relaxed about it.
“Also, there are no buy out clauses in any of the contracts.”
