Reds have been monitoring exciting Kenyan all campaign long.
Liverpool face a battle to sign highly-rated Celtic midfield player Victor Wanyama at the end of the season after it emerged that fellow Premier League side Southampton were also keen on the Kenya international, says the Daily Mail.
The Merseyside giants have been keeping close tabs on the 21-year-old all season long, with the giant player having greatly impressed the Reds with a series of eye-catching displays for the Scottish Premier League champions, both in the league as well as in the Uefa Champions League.
In fact, it was Wanyama’s two sensational performances against Spanish giants FC Barcelona in Europe’s premier club competition last year that really brought the player to many clubs’ attentions, although it has been Liverpool who have been tracking him for longest and who have shown the strongest interest to date.
Wanyama has a contract in Glasgow until 2015 and is likely to cost either Premier League club £10 million to buy this summer.
