Liverpool and Tottenham both want to sign Ivorian attacker Salomon Kalou, who currently plies his trade in France for Lille, the Mirror reports.
Kalou could be available for as little as £2.5m, and provide both sides with a wide attacking goal threat.
The 28-year-old played for Chelsea between 2006 and 2012, where he scored 60 goals in 251 appearances, and moved to Lille 18 months ago, where he immediately hit the ground running. Last term, he bagged 16 in all competitions, and has started this season in similarly solid form – scoring six in 16.
His versatility makes him an attractive squad proposition for both Liverpool and Tottenham. Kalou can play as a central striker, or in a wider role in a typical 4-3-3 formation. The Reds are desperate to strengthen their forward options, with Iago Aspas currently the only backup striker for Luis Suarez.
Tottenham have struggled for goals all season, but now under new boss Tim Sherwood, their style has been more attacking and easy on the eye, and Kalou could fit in nicely.
For such a bargain price, the addition of Kalou to aide either side’s push for a top four seems like a no brainer.
