Premier League sides Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are set to fight it out for the signature of highly-rated Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Karl Darlow, according to reports in the Daily Mail.
Darlow was one of few players to impress after a miserable campaign for Forest in the Championship, with the 23 year-old emerging as the undisputed first choice at the City Ground.
Both clubs are on the hunt for talented young ‘keepers with the potential to challenge seasoned internationals Hugo Lloris and Simon Mignolet for their shirts, whilst they will both also be aware of the fact that Darlow is still at an age where his dramatic improvement can continue.
The Forest No.1, who enjoyed his first taste of senior football in loan spells at Newport County and Walsall, has previously rejected the opportunity to represent Wales at international level – but he remains eligible to join the likes of Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey for the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign.
Spurs’ interest in Darlow comes despite the fact that regular back-up stopper Brad Friedel has signed a new one-year contract at White Hart Lane, a deal that is likely to make him the oldest player in Premier League history should he make an appearance next season.
