Top-flight duo want to bring the Dutchman to the Premier League next season.
Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are set to battle it out to sign talented FC Barcelona midfield player Ibrahim Afellay this summer, according to reports in the Sun.
The hugely talented Netherlands international has been with the Spanish champions for the past two-and-a-half seasons now, having originally signed for the Catalans from Eredivisie giants PSV Eindhoven for just 3 million euros in Dec 2010.
However, in the intervening two-and-a-half years the 27-year-old has generally found it hard to win a regular starting berth in the Barca midfield, featuring in just the 34 matches in all competitions for the Spaniards in that time, scoring only two goals in the process, including a solitary strike in his 20 Liga outings for the club.
As a result, the wide man was loaned out to Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04 for the whole of the previous campaign, where he netted four times in his 13 games for the Germans, and now both Tottenham and Liverpool are set to do battle this summer in order to win Afellay’s signature.
