The Hammers, who currently have Song on a season-long loan from the Catalan giants, are hoping to persuade the Cameroon international to reject offers from bigger clubs after his difficult time on the bench at the Nou Camp.
Still, Allardyce is hopeful Song can be persuaded to remain at West Ham, saying: “Clubs might have a bigger history and tradition than ours but it is not always the case that they will succeed against you.
“In the end Alex moved to Barcelona which he thought was one hell of a move for him at the time and unfortunately he did not play, or as much as he wanted to.
“So it is fine being at these clubs but it is not that good if you are not playing if you are a footballer contrary to what most people think.”
