Serie A giants Lazio are interested in signing Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho, according to reports.
Sakho joined the Reds from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain in 2013 but has struggled to make a major impact in the Premier League, playing a bit-part role under Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers.
According to Daily Express [via La Lazio Siamo Noi], Lazio are keen on bringing the French international to the Stadio Olimpico on a one-year loan with a view to making the deal permanent.
The report claims Lazio have opened negotiations with Liverpool despite the fact Sakho had committed his future to the Reds just last month.
Sakho made just 16 league appearances for the Merseyside club last season after struggling with form and injuries throughout the campaign.
The 25-year-old will need to be playing first-team football this season if he is to be considered for the France squad for EURO 2016, and a loan move to Lazio could provide him with valuable minutes.
