Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has claimed the Reds might go back in for Ukrainian flyer Yevhen Konoplyanka in the summer, after missing out on him this January, reports BBC Sport.
The Reds were very close to securing a £15m deal for the 24-year-old after meeting his buy out clause, but his club Dnipro’s president refused to sign paperwork finalising a deal before the transfer window slammed shut.
When asked if Liverpool would go back in for Konoplyanka in the summer, Rodgers refused to rule out a possible move.
“If we feel he can improve us, we are a professional club,” Rodgers began.
“There will be a greater market to look at then but it wouldn’t stop us.
“I feel really sorry for the player because he was obviously desperate to come but it’s gone now and we will review it in the summer.”
Konoplyanka has won 35 caps for Ukraine, and prides himself on his ability to cut in from the left wing and shoot on goal with his powerful right foot.
He is an excellent dribbler, but also has the technical capability to pick out the right pass when he’s beaten his man.
