The defeat to the Gunners has left the Reds seven points adrift of the Champions League qualification places, with fourth placed Manchester City also having a game in hand on them. The Northern Irish boss has since conceded that their hopes of finishing in the top four have slipped away, and that they could have trouble attracting new signings while not in Europe’s premier competition.
The Mirror has revealed that several senior players spoke out angrily against the 42-year-old after he accused them of not playing for him at a team meeting on Sunday. This is not a great time for this to happen, with key midfielders Raheem Sterling and Jordan Henderson both in the middle of contract negotiations with the club.
