Rodgers was speaking to the assembled media on Friday, as reported by Sky Sports, and discussed his side’s chances ahead of facing Roberto Martinez’s men.
Having been held to a disappointing 1-1 draw with Sion in the Europa League on Thursday night, the pressure is back on the tactician to pick up another win which would undoubtedly boost morale after an inconsistent start to the campaign.
Liverpool picked up a 3-2 win over Aston Villa last weekend which immediately lifted the pressure off Rodgers, but having chosen to make significant changes to his starting line-up in Europe, he may well be feeling it once again.
Nevertheless, since taking charge at Anfield, he has yet to suffer defeat in the Merseyside derby, and is evidently confident that he will be able to maintain that record when the two sides clash at Goodison Park on Sunday.
The Red have won one and drawn five against their city rivals under Rodgers, but that will matter little if they are unable to secure a positive result this time around.
