Liverpool made their most expensive signing of the Brendan Rodgers era, as striker Christian Benteke was bought from Aston Villa for £32.5m earlier this month.
Despite concerns that the 24-year-old star will not suit the style of play at Anfield, Rodgers insists that Benteke will fit his plan for Liverpool, according to the Daily Star.
“I’ve heard and seen stuff that he won’t fit the style we play, but I think he will complement it and help us,” Rodgers said on Liverpool’s new star.
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher was one particular person who voiced concern on whether Benteke will fit the team’s short passing style of play.
Benteke already showed a lot of star power with Aston Villa, as he scored 49 goals in the last three seasons for them.
Rodgers believes the star striker can become even better.
“There are a number of qualities I think that he has and he will only improve,” Rodgers said.
Regardless of concerns about the Belgian international fitting in Anfield, Rodgers is engineering an ultra-aggressive transfer window for the Reds.
