Liverpool have been aggressive in the transfer market throughout the summer, and they put the icing on the cake with a £32.5m deal for striker Christian Benteke.
And Reds boss Brendan Rodgers believes that the team may have made a bargain signing, despite there being concerns that the former Aston Villa star may crumble under the pressure of becoming the leader of the Anfield attack.
However, Rodgers immediately brushed away these concerns, and made a comment that may be considered shocking or outlandish.
“For me, I think he’ll prove to be a bargain for the club. I really do. I’ve read and seen things about his game, but in the short period of time he’s been in, I’ve been even more impressed,” he is quoted as saying by the Daily Star.
Benteke proved to be a consistent scoring threat at Villa, as he scored at least 10 goals in all three of his Premier League seasons with the club.
The Belgian international totalled 49 goals in his stint with the Villans, and he finished his career there with 15 goals in the 2014-15 campaign.
