Theo Walcott contract: Arsenal shut down Chelsea & Liverpool transfer talk with new deal
Liverpool legend to make MLS debut on July 11
Due to midfielder Raheem Sterling being disgruntled, he is expected to be traded or free to sign with another team.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers said that he interested in dealing for Arsenal forward Theo Walcott, but the Gunners have since signed him to a new deal.
Rodgers has shifted his focus to acquiring defender Kieran Gibbs.
The Reds are in need of defensive help, as they allowed 48 goals throughout the 2014-15 Premier League season.
Their final game of the season featured them allowing six goals to Stoke City, which dropped them to sixth place in the final table.
Gibbs may be rusty heading into the 2015-16 season though, as he served as a backup to Nacho Monreal for the Gunners.
However, he offers plenty of experience as he has been with the Arsenal organization since he was 14 years old.
Gibbs is currently 25 years old, so he would bring plenty of young blood despite Sterling being 20 years old.
The Reds are still prepared to use Sterling as a negotiating chip.
