ESPN report that Sterling’s agent Aidy Ward had requested a summit with club bosses including Brendan Rodgers and chief executive Ian Ayre, this due to the public disagreements and acrimony between the two parties since Sterling turned down a £100,000-a-week deal and in order to discuss how they now handle the player’s future.
However, in light of Ward’s comments to the London Evening Standard – in which he said Sterling would’t sign a contract at Anfield even if he was offered £900,000-a-week and called Kop legend Jamie Carragher a ‘knob’ – ESPN site Press Association Sport as claiming those talks have now been postponed.
Ward has since claimed he’s been misrepresented in the report of that incredible outburst, however this has not deterred the Liverpool hierarchy who are thought to not see the point in discussing the issue with Sterling and his representative if their mind has already been decided.
