The 19-year-old impressed in his debut in the Merseyside derby on Saturday, coming close to scoring with one long range shot that hit the post. After such a performance his skipper thinks that the youngster has a promising career ahead of him.
The forward had been on loan at Derby County earlier in the season where he scored five times in 24 appearances. This would seem to have been enough for manager Brendan Rodgers to recall him and give him a debut starting against fierce rivals Everton.
The 34-year-old said, “Ibe was fantastic. He only found out he was playing yesterday so to have 24 hours to prepare for a big match like this and be man of the match, it was a very sensational performance.
He continued, “He was very unlucky not to get the winner with that unbelievable strike in the first half so he’s got a big future and, if he keeps working hard, he’s got a terrific future.”
