Kovacic has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield, and the Reds have received a massive boost after Inter announced the signing of AS Monaco midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia.
According to The Sun, Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is hoping to finalise a £15m move for the Croatian star but it’s believed the Serie A giants are holding out for an £18m offer.
The newspaper reports that Inter must sell Kovacic following Kondogbia’s signing in order to meet UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations.
Barcelona are also reportedly interested in the 21-year-old playmaker, but cannot sign players until 2016 due its transfer ban handed to the club by FIFA.
Kovacic would significantly bolster Liverpool’s midfield and is considered to be one of Europe’s brightest young talents.
The former Dinamo Zagreb man has previously stated that he had not heard of any interest from the Reds, so it will be interesting to see how this one pans out.
