Liverpool reportedly remains in the hunt for Fiorentina striker Mario Gomez, with the player’s agent confirming he is negotiating with a number of clubs.
According to Metro, Gomez is a target for the Reds as Brendan Rodgers looks to add firepower to his front third ahead of the new Premier League season.
Gomez was rumoured to have been close to a move to Turkish giants Besiktas, but agent Uli Ferber revealed nothing had been signed with the Istanbul-based club.
“There are negotiations going on with several different clubs,” Ferber is quoted as saying by Metro.
“But nothing has been signed or agreed on yet. Nothing is decided.”
Gomez has struggled with injury since joining Fiorentina two years ago, scoring just 14 goals in 47 appearances for the club.
However, the German international had great success with Bayern Munich, scoring 75 goals in 115 Bundesliga matches before he was ousted from the starting XI by Croatian star Mario Mandzukic.
The move likely hinges on whether Liverpool complete a deal for Aston Villa attacker Christian Benteke, with the Reds reportedly confident of completing his signing this week.
