League One side Coventry City are closing in on a deal to bring young Liverpool winger Ryan Kent to the club on loan.
The loan window opens on Wednesday for Football League clubs to bring in players on short-term loan deals, and the Sky Blues are keen to snap up the England Under 20 international.
Coventry boss Tony Mowbray said the club has been tracking Kent “for a while” before making a move.
“He’s a young player who we have noted an interest with Liverpool,” Mowbray is quoted as saying by the Coventry Telegraph.
“It might have a day or two to run yet but I would be hopeful of trying to close the deal. We’ve watched him for a while and he’s my type of footballer really.”
Kent was part of the first-team squad that toured Australia and the Far East in pre-season, but he is unlikely to feature in the Reds’ Premier Leafue campaign this season.
He is understood to be highly-rated by the Merseyside club, but it is expected he will join Coventry on loan before the club’s clash with Scunthorpe United this weekend.
