Rodgers moves in on defensive support.
Valencia full-back Aly Cissokho could finally be making the move to England as Liverpool tie up a deal for the Valencia man, initially on-loan but with a view to a permanent deal.

The Frenchman has been strongly linked with the Reds, although fellow Premier League club Sunderland have also shown interest in the defender.
Los Che are keen for the switch to Anfield to initially be on-loan and then the deal to be made permanent in 12 months time, as the La Liga outfit will therefore have to pay less to Cissokho’s previous club Olympique Lyon.
Valencia signed the 25-year-old from Lyon in the summer of 2012 and a clause was agreed that 40% of any sale within two years of the transfer would go to the French club.
However, if that move is delayed by a further 12 months then the figure drops to 20% and with the Spanish side currently in financial worry, they are obviously keen to take more of the fee.
Cissokho played 36 matches in all competitions last season, although the France international failed to establish himself as a first team regular at the Mestalla Stadium.
Liverpool meanwhile want to improve defensively and manager Brendan Rodgers expects more competition for places, particularly at left-back where the Merseyside club only have Luis Enrique and Glen Johnson was forced to switch flanks last term to fill in.
