Clyne has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield over recent months, and Daily Express reports that Reds bosses have put forward a £12.5m in an attempt to snare the England international’s signature.
Liverpool’s offer still falls £2.5m short of Southampton’s valuation, but the Saints are now more likely to sell the right-back after the capture of Sporting Lisbon defender Cedric Soares.
The Saints are reportedly in the hunt for Marseille midfielder Giannelli Imbula, and the fee will go a long way in signing the £15m-rated midfielder.
Liverpool are understood to be desperate to complete the deal and with Clyne having just 12 months remaining on his contract at St Mary’s, the deal is looking likely to be finalised in the near future.
