Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is known to be a keen admirer of former Sampdoria star Icardi, who has been one of Inter’s best players this season, but Atletico’s willingness to offer midfielder Mario Suarez in a swap deal could swing the balance in Diego Simeone’s favour.
Despite the imminent return to fitness of England international Daniel Sturridge and the goalscoring heroics of Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert today, Rodgers is still expected to add a forward to his squad this month.
