Premier League side Sunderland are hoping to take Liverpool’s 23-year old striker Fabio Borini on loan for the second straight season after failing to agree personal terms with the Italian striker, reports the Daily Express.
The Reds had accepted a £14 million offer from the Black Cats for Borini, but the Italian international rejected the chance to go to Sunderland on a permanent basis as he wants to move to a more ambitious club or stay at Anfield to fight for his first team place.
Sunderland boss Gus Poyet is very keen to talk Borini into a permanent switch after he impressed with 10 goals on loan at the club last season, but it seems as though he might not get his chance this season.
A loan move for Borini seems like Sunderland’s last ditch effort to get him to play for the club though, but it remains to be seen whether the young and ambitious striker would want to spend another season at a club that barely survived relegation last season.
