Why Arsenal look favourites to sign Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech
According to The Sun, Brendan Rodgers would like to bring the 32-year-old in on loan, as he looks to strengthen his defence following a difficult campaign. Whilst Simon Mignolet is starting to rediscover his best form, inconsistencies across the entire back line have stopped the club mounting any kind of title challenge this season. Ahead of a pivotal summer for the club, Rodgers reportedly views Cech as the ideal player to bring stability.
The Reds are willing to pay the Premier League leaders the £1m they would like up front, and will cover his £125,000 a week wages, The Sun also report.
A loan move could also benefit the player, as with his contract due to expire at the end of next season, it allows him to weigh up his potential options.
Liverpool will however, have to beat off competition from Arsenal, Southampton, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain for the Czech international.
