Villa have now begun their pre-season plans with a trip to Portugal, and it has been confirmed that their star striker has indeed joined them despite all the transfer speculation.
It is no secret that Liverpool have been courting the Belgian international, as reported by the Mirror, but no bid has yet been forthcoming with Villa adamant that they will not accept anything less than his £32.5m release clause.
While the 24-year-old will feature for Tim Sherwood in Portugal, midfielder Fabian Delph won’t as the England international remained at home.
However, Villa fans will be pleased to know that it was due to his wife giving birth to their second child as opposed to being linked to the rumours regarding interest from Manchester City.
Sherwood will hope to keep hold of both his star men ahead of the new campaign, although Liverpool are expected to come in with an offer sooner rather than later for Benteke.
