Merseyside giants have been tracking winger all campaign long.
Liverpool are hoping to tie up a £5 million deal for highly-rated Sevilla midfield player Luis Alberto by the end of the week, says the Daily Star.
The Spain Under-21 international has been with the Liga outfit for his whole career, managing to find the back of the net on five occasions in just his seven appearances for Sevilla in the past two years.
And now Liverpool head coach Brendan Rodgers is set to tie up a deal for the skilful 20-year-old, who has a contract with his club that runs until June 30 2015.
Spanish champions FC Barcelona do have first option on Alberto, however, it is understood that the Catalans are not interested in bringing the wide man to Camp Nou this summer, and so paving the path clear for the Northern Irishman to snap up the player when the transfer window finally reopens for business once again on July 1.
