Liverpool have joined the long line of clubs keen to sign Sampdoria’s coveted young Argentine front man Mauro Icardi, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

The 19-year-old forward has apparently been watched by a whole host of big-name clubs on the Continent lately, including Premier League giants Manchester City and Newcastle United, as well as many clubs in Serie A.
City head coach Roberto Mancini even went to check out the Argentina Under-20 international in action for himself last weekend, when the player scored in his club’s 3-1 home win over Roma, with the Italian impressed with what he saw of the youngster.
“He scored a great goal and moved very well and I must say I liked him,” the City manager said after the match.
Napoli tried to buy Icardi during the recent January transfer window, only for their advances to be rebuffed by Sampdoria, while fellow Serie A outfit Inter Milan are also reportedly keen to bring the in-demand player to San Siro at the end of this season.
