Spaniard wants to try out life in the English top flight next season.
Liverpool have now joined the queue of Premier League clubs hoping to be able to persuade red-hot FC Barcelona front man David Villa to join them this summer, reports the Daily Mirror.
The highly-rated and experienced Spain international has been at Camp Nou for just the three years now, having signed for the Spanish giants from Valencia for 40 million euros in May 2010.
However, having suffered a broken leg while playing in the Fifa World Club Championship in Japan in Dec 2011, the 31-year-old has found it hard to win back his starting place in attack with Barca, especially since the arrival of new head coach Tito Vilanova at the start of this season.
Villa has featured in 27 Liga matches for the club to date in this campaign, registering nine goals and four assists along the way, while overall the striker has netted 15 goals in only 39 games for Barcelona.
And now Liverpool are said to be keen to entice the attacker to Merseyside when the transfer window opens on July 1 for a fee of just 14m euros.
