Reds are continuing to make moves in the transfer market.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is hoping to be able to bring coveted young FC Barcelona forward Gerard Deulofeu to Anfield this summer, says The Times.
The Northern Irishman has already been busy in the transfer market, signing the likes of Manchester City defender Kolo Toure, Celta de Vigo front man Iago Aspas, Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet and Barcelona winger Luis Alberto.
And now Rodgers wants to return to Camp Nou in order to land Alberto’s former team-mate Deulofeu, who played up front with him for the Catalan giant’s ‘B’ team last season in a highly successful partnership together.
The Spain Under-20 international has been with Barca for the past three seasons now, having been trained in their world famous La Masia academy, and while the 19-year-old has only featured in the six matches in all competitions for the Liga giants during that time, he has still managed to score 27 goals in 68 games for their ‘B’ team.
As a result, Rodgers is hoping to be able to convince both the player and his employers that a move to Anfield this summer would be in both their best interests.
