Liverpool eye intelligent deal to sign FC Schalke 04 flyer, who has an asking price of just £6.8m.
Liverpool are thought to be considering a deal for FC Schalke 04 winger Jefferson Farfan, having been priced out of re-signing former youth player Tom Ince.
The Reds are making some early moves in the transfer market, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan of Shakhtar Donetsk the top name on their shortlist, Iago Aspas expected to sign from Celta Vigo and Kolo Toure already having moved to Anfield from Manchester City.
Brendan Rodgers’ transfer plans have somewhat been thrown off kilter with the news that Luis Suarez wants to leave Liverpool, but so long as he can find a suitable replacement they could still be in good shape going forward.
Jefferson Farfan has been a top performer in the Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League for a good few years now, and the Peru international – capable of playing both up front and on the right wing – could dovetail nicely with Daniel Sturridge should he move to Anfield.
FC Schalke 04 have already signed Farfan’s replacement, 21 year-old Christian Clemens from FC Koln, and 28 year-old Farfan has already been linked with an exit, with an asking price of just €8 million mooted (approximately £6.8m).
That is substantially less than Blackpool are demanding for Tom Ince, and Farfan could be a much cheaper alternative.
The fleet footed winger is also of interest to Galatasaray, who see him as a great foil for Didier Drogba and Wesley Sneijder, but a move to the Premier League could be tempting – not least to a club of Liverpool’s pedigree.
Galatasaray have offered just €5m (around £4.3m), and if Liverpool can outbid the Turkish giants they could have a real bargain on their hands.
