Reds need to find a replacement for the soon-to-be retired Carragher.
Liverpool may move for highly-rated Celtic defender Efe Ambrose at the end of this season after the Nigeria international admitted it was his “dream” to play in the Premier League, say the Daily Mail.
The Reds have reportedly been monitoring the giant centre back of late, with head coach Brendan Rodgers knowing that he will need to find a long-term replacement for veteran England defender Jamie Carragher next season after the centre back recently announced his decision to retire from all forms of football come the summer.
And Ambrose has impressed of late, including starring as his country won the Africa Cup of Nations, although the Reds will need to fight off competition from the likes of both Swansea City and Sunderland if they are to sign the 24-year-old this summer.
“I am happy to be linked with a club like Liverpool,” Ambrose told Sky Sports.
“My dream is to play across the border. The English League is the best but I am happy at Celtic.
“I love the fans here and we were unlucky against Juventus.”
