Rodgers wants to bring young Spurs full-back to Anfield.
Liverpool are eyeing a surprise summer move for Tottenham Hotspur full-back Danny Rose, according to the Daily Mail.
The 22-year-old has impressed this term during a season-long loan at Sunderland and Black Cats boss Paulo Di Canio is thought to be keen to sign the England under-21 star permanently.
But Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is ready to renew his interest in Rose, having failed to sign the former Leeds United player in the last two transfer windows.
The Northern Irishman is struggling to stretch his £20m summer transfer budget, despite the possibility that Andy Carroll, Stewart Downing and Jose Enrique – all of whom were signed by his Anfield predecessor, Kenny Dalglish – will depart before next season.
Rose made 27 appearances for Sunderland this season, scoring once, and was voted the club’s player of the year by supporters.
Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has struggled to find consistency at left-back this season, with Jan Vertonghen, Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Kyle Naughton all filling in.
The Portuguese has hinted that Rose will return to White Hart Lane and play a part next season.
